BDL is seeking a Category Development Manager to drive category growth, optimize product assortment, and develop strategies that increase market share and boost sales performance across Lagos and Oyo. This role requires strong analytical skills, market insight, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Lead category growth strategies for FMCG across multiple channels
Analyze sales and market data to drive insights
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and key account teams
The Category Development Manager will develop tailored strategies for product assortment, merchandising, and trade promotions. The role ensures consistent brand presence, drives revenue growth, and supports regional sales teams with data-driven insights and guidance.
Category Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement category growth strategies
Conduct market and competitor analysis
Recommend channel-specific initiatives for General Trade, Modern Trade, and HORECA
Product Assortment & Merchandising:
Optimize SKU assortment per channel, region, and customer type
Lead category visibility initiatives (planograms, POS, displays)
Ensure consistent brand presence and shelf standards
Trade Marketing & Promotions:
Plan and execute trade promotions to drive sales and awareness
Evaluate promotion performance and provide insights
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams for seamless activation
Sales Support & Collaboration:
Work with regional sales managers, TSMs, and key accounts
Provide category training and market insights
Track competitor activities for strategic response
Data Analytics & Reporting:
Analyze sales, category performance, and market share trends
Develop monthly dashboards and performance presentations
Recommend actions to improve distribution, share of shelf, and revenue
Minimum 5 years’ experience in category management, trade marketing, or sales within FMCG
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
Experience in Lagos and/or Oyo markets is an advantage
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills
